With Internet based affiliate marketing your business risk is at a minimum. You only spend the tie and money you choose. You can work an Internet business full time or part time, it is up to you. You can choose to promote your business using the many free and low cost tools available or invest in more expensive advanced promotional methods.

Finding an Internet based affiliate marketing program you want to promote may be your hardest job. Once that is done the rest is a matter of promoting the opportunity and putting in front of the general public. Here are some tips to help you find a profitable program:

1.Find a Niche Market. Look for a product that is in a niche market where you can focus your activities on select items and select groups of people. Spreading yourself thin with hundreds of products can lead to quick failure.

2. Find companies specializing in your chosen Niche. You want to locate companies who have established products and proven track records to work with. New and untested product lines and companies can often be difficult to sell.

3.Promotional materials should be provided. Companies who use affiliates develop a marketing strategy for you and tools to use. These can be your number one benefit when choosing the right company and will bring you the most profits.

4.Make sure your new company appeals to a wide range of people. In building your business you will build a down line sales force. If your company and products are not appealing others may not want to join you.

5. An affiliate based company should hold their affiliates in high priority. It is you the affiliate who is building their company and you should be treated as such. Long response times to emails, rude or abruptness are all signs you do not want to work with that company.

Building your new Internet based affiliate marketing company may take a little time. By making sound choices in the beginning and choosing the right programs this time can be cut in half. The investment of both time and money can be one of the best you ever made and can reward you greatly in the future.

Swapping links is still a tremendously popular method of building incoming links to your website and so increasing your visitor numbers. But there are still an astonishingly large number of ways in which web masters make it difficult for other people to exchange links with them.

And let’s be honest - the easier you make it for other web masters, the more links you will end up with.

So let’s examine some of these ways as examples of tactics you should avoid if at all possible in your campaigns. All three of these examples are things I have seen on live websites in the last week or so, so these are really going on right now.

1) Demanding A Minimum PageRank (PR)

To many web masters, PR is the be all and end all of link swapping. To a certain degree this makes sense but be aware that Google is getting smartrer all the time. If it spots a site with no PR0 sites linking to them then this may well look unnatural.

And Google doesn’t like unnatural. It’s one way Google ascertains whether you’re trying to “game the system” and if you get caught you may find yourself delisted from Google altogether.

What’s more, a PR0 site will likely gain Page Rank at the next Google update if it’s a new site, so you would have had a quality link on that site if you were willing to be patient.

Infact, I’ve had sites go from PR0 to PR4 in a single indexing (and plenty of other people have experienced the opposite as their Page Rank vanishes overnight).

So the point is - you’re making decisions based on a highly fluid and flexible quality like Page Rank which will be constantly changing. And as a result you’re shooting yourself in the foot.

Make the *quality* of the site in question the primary decision-making factor and I think you’ll have a far better long-term strategy.

2) No Blog Links

It’s true that spam blogs (or “splogs“) are rife but equally there is an ever growing number of good-quality blogs with excellent content, high readerships and lots of incoming links.

Excluding blogs altogether rules out exchanges with a huge pool of sites that are perfect for link exchanges so take off your blinkers.

Indeed, with blogs being accepted into standard search engines and directories *as well as* specialized blog and RSS directories, this can even mean that they offer your site even more that a standard website.

3) No Link Exchange Form

Too many sites still expect web masters to email them to exchange links rather than filling in a small form on their website. Not only is this frustrating for potential linkers because it’s so slow but emails increasingly get lost in cyberspace or in today’s spam filters and so may not even be received.

So use a contact form which makes life easier for visitors to your site and also ensures you get all the information you need to make a decision about te suitability of potential link partners.

Copy and Paste functions has become an important part of any computer users. But do you know that web sites you visit can retrieve data from your clipboard depending on your security settings. Regular users use it routinely to copy and paste information such as passwords and credit card numbers from one form to another. When you use the Cut or Copy functions, the information is stored in the computer’s memory in the clipboard. That information is later used when you paste it to another area of the same application or a different application.

The risk lies when secure informations are in the clipboard and if you are using Internet explorer for browsing sites.Just checkout this site(projectip.com) on Internet explorer for getting the current details of your clipboard.Newer Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, allow you to keep more than one item in the clipboard at a time.

With the coming up of Ajax,it has become a lot more easier to steal information from your clipboard without even you knowing it.Internet Explorer has certain functions that let you copy whatever is on the clipboard inside your browser. So using simple JavaScript or Ajax a person can capture the information and send it to the server behind the scenes without anyone noticing.

How is the clipboard content retrieved?

Ajax makes it very simple to communicate with the server behind the scenes and hence can be used to steal information.Real-time keylogging is one method that is easier to do using Ajax. But the clipboard contents could be viewed only with Internet Explorer.(Firefox rulez!! ha ha..) Any way I don’t know what’s the case with IE7. Using JavaScript window.clipboardData.getData(”Text”) method, the current value on the clipboard can be retrieved. Using events such as oncopy, oncut and onbeforepaste, custom functionalities can be built to further manipulate the data on the clipboard.

How To Fix this Security Bug.

Fix: Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Select a security zone > Custom Level > Scripting > Allow paste operations via script and set it to Disabled or Prompt.

Clipboard viewer in Windows Xp

Open the Windows(systemroot) folder.
Double-click on the System32 folder.
Scroll down the page until you locate a file named Clipbrd.exe and open the program and view your clipboard contents.

The number of hackers and browser hijackers are increasing everyday.Best way to prevent hacking is to cheat them by making some minor changes in our system.

Some of these tips require editing of the Registry so it is wise to either backup the registry and/or create a Restore Point.

Install Windows In a different directory

Windows usually installs itself in the WINDOWS directory. Windows NT 4 0 and 2000 Will opt for WINNT. Many worms and other rogue programs assume this to be the case and attempt to exploit those folders files. To defeat this install Windows to another directory when you’re setting it up - you can specify the name of the directory during setup. WINDIR is okay; so some people use WNDWS - A few (not that many) programs may not install properly if you install Windows to another folder.

Clearing the Page File at Shutdown

Windows 2000/XP paging file (Sometimes called the Swap File) can contain sensitive information such as plaintext passwords. Someone capable of accessing your system could scan that file and find its information. You can force windows to clear out this file.
In the registry navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Session Manager>Memory Management and add or edit the DWORD ClearPageFileAtShutdown. Set it to 1.

Disable the POSIX and OS/2 Subsystem.

Windows 2000 and XP come with little-documented subsystems it at allow compatibility with UNIX and OS/2 systems These rues systems are enabled by default but so rarely used that they are best off bring disabled completely to prevent possible service hijackings.
To disable these subsystems, open the registry and navigate to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Session Manager>SubSystems. Delete the subkeys Os2 and Posix. then reboot.

Disable the Guest account

Windows XP comes with a Guest account that’s used for limited access, but it’s still possible to do some damage with it. Disable it completely if you are not using it. Under Control Panel, select User Accounts, click on Guest Account and then select Turn Off the Guest Account.

Set the Hosts file to read-only to prevent name hijacking.

The HOSTS file is a text file that all flavors of Windows use to hold certain network addresses that never change. When a network name and address is placed in HOSTS, the computer uses the address listed there for that network name rather than performing a lookup (which can take time). Experts edit this file to place their most commonly-visited sites into it, speeding things up considerably.
To prevent HOSTS from being hijacked, set it to read-only. Go to the folder %Systemroot% >system32 >drivers>etc, right-click on HOSTS, select Properties check the Read-Only box and click OK. If you want to add your own entries to HOSTS, you can unprotect it before doing so, but always remember to set it to read-only after you’re done.

Disable simple File Shares.

In Windows XP Professional, the Simple File Sharing mode is easily exploited, since it’s a little too easy to share out a file across your LAN (or the NET at large). To turn it off, go to My Computer, click Tools, Folder Option and the View tab, and uncheck Use Simple file sharing (Recommended). Click OK. When you do this you can access the Security tab in the Properties window for all folders; set permissions for folders; and take ownership of objects

Opening up orkut to 3rd party developers will have a high security risk on its users. But these applications are not yet brought to the main Orkut site while they are being tested on another Orkut Sandbox site.Users will be able to select applications they like and add them to their profiles. Also orkut will be the first website to use a new web technology called OpenSocial, which allows developers to use web standards (such as HTML and Javascript) to build new social applications in orkut.

(image from techcruch)

Recent hit of Orkut by a self spreading worm which did not do any major damages except sending out scraps to your friends on behalf of you.See these links for more details. The worm, which used Flash-based JavaScript malware and took advantage of an XSS vulnerability in Orkut, added the victims to its rogue Orkut community, reportedly called “Infectados pelo Virus do Orkut,” which at one point today had captured hundreds of thousands of involuntary members. The attacker wrote a message in Portuguese on the rogue community site — translated, it says: “This just to show how orkut may be dangerous, you came up here without clicking absolutely no link malicious, everything was done reading scraps.” The message also said that no data was stolen in the attack.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140653-c,worms/article.html

http://orkutplus.blogspot.com/2007/12/breaking-xss-in-scrapbook-if-you-open.html

Orkut has suffered from other vulnerabilities in the past, including XSS, script insertion, information disclosure, and a worm which propagated malware. These vulnerabilities occured when an Orkut user fails to authenticate himself during a session (say, while deleting a community), the user is redirected to a login pagewhere the user has to enter his password to login again. At this stage, ideally the session should be disabled and should be enabled only afterthe user re-authenticates himself. However, the session associated with SID and LSID cookies remain alive at the server side. Therefore, it is not safe to abandon the session at this stage. An attacker can set these cookies in his browser and access the compromised account by visiting http://www.gmail.com/, https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount etc..This security bugs has been fixed by the authorities. Most Orkut users use the same gmail account with Orkut, Google should be very careful with Orkut and exploits like these can lead to great damages for the users.

Disabling, enabling and then again disabling web pages service in google apps dashboard(this might give a 404 server not found error for some time).

If you are this error like 404 server not found for more than 12 hours then go to your blogger dashboard and try switching between custom domain and blogspot domain. To do this first reset your custom domain to blogspot and then setting it back to your custom domain.(this usually works)

What makes this Custom domain error in blogger

While setting custom domain in blogger you need to setup this DNS instruction which is pretty simple.

Add one or more “CNAME” records. Point “www.yourdomain.com”, and / or “yourdomain.com”, to “ghs.google.com”.

What is an A record ?

An A record can point a host name to an IP address. To point just mydomain.com to an IP address, leave the “Record Host” field blank. To point www.mydomain.com to an IP address enter www into the “Record Host” field. To point all sub domains for mydomain.com that do not already have a host record to an IP address enter * into the “Record Host” field. You can add multiple host records for a domain name.

What is a CNAME record ?

A CNAME or canonical name record points a hostname with no other records to another valid hostname. The canonical name you use should have no other DNS records associated with it. CNAME’s should only be used in a very few instances, for common aliases and host names use an A record instead. If you do not understand what CNAME’s are used for, then chances are you should not be using them. The misuse of CNAME records can cause problems with the resolution of your domain name if not used properly.

But all the DNS hosts do not support this feature since their domain should resolve to A record(IP) so it is not possible to make a CNAME record to ‘mydomain.com’.There domain should be pointed to IP to resolve globally.

Another way is to contact your DNS host support and ask them for support.

UPdate:

How I managed to redirect mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com with Godaddy.I will tell you step by step and this is the final solution. In the Total Dns Control Panel of Godaddy first of all delete every CNAME and A records. Then add a new CNAME record with alias name as ‘www’ without quotes and point it to ghs.google.com .Then add a new A record with host name ‘mydomain.com’ without quotes and point it to ip address 64.202.189.170 and wait for 10 minutes. Now the address mydomain.com will automatically redirect to www.mydomain.com.This is the only effective and the most effecient way of redirecting custom domains in blogger.Check Renjus blog where it is perfectly implemented.

So here comes the first post in trapbot.com.I am not here to write on this blog somewhat on a daily — basis for x years times 365 days. But this blog will definetely contain something which might really interest you. That’s for sure.

One of the common mistakes bloggers do is that they start their blogs on either blogspot or wordpress.com.Once settled and having a good page rank on these blogs would not bring any google juice when shifting to their own domain at a later time.

But if you are not interested in buying a domain then it does not matter. You can go for blogger for free blog hosting, that’s the platform i recommend for free blog hosting.

First question you would ask me is that what are the advantages of taking blogger as the host:

Unlimited Bandwidth

Free image hosting

Easy customization

Easy HTML and AJAX integration

Hacker Safe (to an extend)

Defenitely there are limitations as well

No FTP access

Less overall control

No control over robots.txt and .htaccess

But why not Wordpress.com

Blogger.com gives a direct access to your template but Wordpress.com does not.Another disadvantage of wordpress.com is that we could not implement any type of javascript ads like Adsense in wordpress.
